Just want to see how this forum works. I’m excited for the trip!
Hey Fernando. Now that your first comment is approved you’ll be able to post comments freely.
Thank you everyone for working with the travel agent. I know it has not been easy.
I have Blue Cross Blue Shield health insurance which covers emergency and urgent health needs that occur out of the country. Is a statement from them going to satisfy the insurance requirement?
Thanks for your question. We’ll get back to you soon.
For those of you that have health insurance that covers international travel, I will just need a copy of the policy that states your coverage or a letter from the company stating you are covered for Sweden. Be sure to read the fine print though as some of the big US Insurance companies have very different coverage while traveling overseas. You can submit this documentation to me via email attachment or paper copy.

I have a few questions :
1. Do we need to read a book on sustainability in Sweden or an article? Can you give me examples of where I would find a credible article? You just need to find an article from a journal or a website. I suggest you look at the Stockholm Environment Institute for some articles as they look at policy and outcomes. You might also do some reading on the Natural Step, a project out of Sweden. If you read on symbiocity, you’ll find some interesting cases on the Swedish Trade Council Or reading anything on biofuels and sustainable transportation in Sweden would be fascinating food for thought. Energy innovation is exciting in Sweden and understanding the national goals and the municipal level projects would be interesting for you.
2. I’ve been playing around with the idea of a video for my final project after the trip. I am not exactly sure how it will work as I am not skilled in editing video. What are your initial thoughts about this type of project? I think a video would be great. I recently bought a Flip camera and have really liked making little videos and uploading them as private to YouTube. I know nothing about editing so you’d have to do some research on that. The other piece would be to have the video clip and then write a description about learning.
3. If I wanted to blog about my experience in Sweden, should I do that on Sakai? You can do that whever you like. If you have an existing blog, it’s fine to use that. If you want to make it so family/friends can read; you may want to look at a more public blogging forum. It does not matter to me.
4. I was a bit late on the call Saturday (apologies), will there be internet access on the ship if we bring laptops? There is not access on the ship. However, on the mainland there are multiple places, cafes. We are looking into the public library as that seems the best place for people to go and that way they don’t have to worry about carrying a laptop or leaving it on the ship while we are away. The youth hostel has bunk rooms so you want to plan your packing for bunk rooms with 2-6 bunks. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QKat465y4dU
I think that is all for now. Keep asking questions. I will post this on our blog so others can see too.
Thanks Polly. That was very helpful.
